I feel a real buzz considering how sazgar is transforming transport in Pakistan. As a person who’s followed local car industry news, I just can’t help but feel thrilled. Now I’m digging into the nitty-gritty of how Sazgar Engineering Works is transforming our roads, mobility, and even our day-to-day routines. I’ll show you how their innovations, especially with rickshaws and beyond, are actually game-changers.
I never cease to wonder how sazgar engineering activities began. Formed in the early 1990s in Lahore, it has all along built its reputation in car assembling and, most notably, motorized rickshaws assembling. It has undoubtedly made its impact as a pillar of Pakistan’s automotive industry.
What gets me going is that as of February 2024, It was the first and sole company licensed to produce electric rickshaws in Pakistan. That was empowering—not just for them but for our entire transport system. Today, they have about 30% of Pakistan’s rickshaw market share with some 2,500 units rolling out each month, of which 30 are electric. Looking at those electric rickshaws zooming down my city roads gives me hope for cleaner air and smarter city transport.

I shall report to you regarding the shocking turnabout. In September 2024, sazgar engineering works announced plans to launch New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) via CKD (completely knocked-down) versions by December 31, 2025. What they had initially planned was expanding their paint shop, warehousing, and installing a solar power facility—for some Rs 4.5 billion incurred totally internally.
But surprise—by April 2025, they ramped way up. Project cost ballooned to Rs 11.5 billion, and the launch date of the NEV shifted to March 2026. And also, they’re expanding even larger with a 5.7-megawatt solar system and better facilities for local assembly of NEVs. I gotta say, this decision is truly inspiring—confidence, determination, and vision. This says to me: This company isn’t holding back—they’re leading the pack.

This is the part I think is actually revolutionary. It isn’t stopping with EVs—there are plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) coming in too. The Haval H6 Hi4 1.5L AT AWD Turbo PHEV will be launched in CKD from August 2025. That’s some serious momentum.

But hold on, that’s not all—They will also assemble two new heavy-duty models: the Tank-500 Hi4-T 4×4 Turbo PHEV SUV and the Cannon Alpha Hi4-T 4×4 Turbo PHEV pickup truck. Both will arrive by March 31, 2026.
Seeing them on our roads fills me with pride: tough, locally assembled, eco-friendly vehicles that transform transportation in Pakistan.
As I look toward expanding production, it’s electric—pun intended. Before expansion, sazgar was producing 40–50 cars a day. With expansion, they aim to produce a whopping 90–100 cars per day.
To me, that boost means not just numbers—but jobs, economic development, and priced-out vehicle options.
And they’re also expanding their dealership network with new facilities in Mardan and Peshawar. From Lahore to those cities—I feel that growth personally, because more access translates to more choices for me and you.
All of this is not merely business—national impact. In propelling hybrid and electric technology, sazgar is contributing to Pakistan’s vision of clean, smart mobility. No overstatement to assert they’re catalyzing change—from internal combustion to low-emission mobility. They’re building capability, focusing on NEV demand, and exporting three-wheeler models abroad.
Frankly put, I am so optimistic when I see how it is redefining transport’s future—innovative, resilient, and sustainable.

I am surprised at how this company works reflects engineering excellence, green mobility, and indigenously nurtured hopes. From redesigning rickshaws to spearheading the NEV launches, they’re not merely producing cars—they’re producing Pakistan’s future. Their rise—from modest beginnings to factory-level improvement, from 50 to 100 units a day, and from local to export markets—is like a story we can all be proud of.
I’m excited, hopeful, and genuinely inspired by their plans. Watching it evolve makes me feel like I’m part of that journey. For anyone interested in the crossroads of innovation, sustainability, and local industry, this company is a beacon worth watching—and celebrating.
