Starting a blog as a storyteller is a great way to express yourself and earn extra income. It can be a platform to showcase your creativity and engage with an audience who shares your interests. If you are creative and know how to tell a story, then you should definitely give this gig a go. Here are 7 steps to help you start your storyteller blog:
It’s important to determine what kind of stories you want to share on your blog. Will it be a collection of personal stories or fiction, or will it focus on a particular topic or theme? Pick something you are passionate about and that you can write about consistently. I was always into tech, business, and reviewing new things that could have a great impact on human lives. I have read a lot of blogs and watched so many videos, I always love to share these stories with my friends, family, and loved ones. So for me, I guess that was the moment of realization that I should share my stories with the world, and here I am.
There are several platforms available to host your blog, such as WordPress, Blogger, and Wix. Consider the features, ease of use, and cost when choosing the right platform for you. I have a degree of master in marketing, and never been a software specialist. But I had an interest in tech from the very beginning, and I started learning about WordPress when I was in 7th grade, I always enjoyed, working on a website, I have also worked on Wix, but I loved WordPress more.
Decide how often you want to post and stick to that schedule. Consistency is key to building an audience. For me, Frankly, it depends on my mood, I can even 5 blogs a day, and sometimes, even writing a single blog looks like death to me. But dear reader, consistency is the key, for sure! Keep your head straight, you don’t need to write 5 blogs a day, you can start from 1 a day, but keep it consistent and you can gradually increase the number if you like.
Start with a few test posts to see what you are comfortable with, then begin creating content that is engaging and well-written. Use storytelling techniques like foreshadowing, conflict, and resolution to make your stories more interesting. You can check out other writing methods and you should practice them all, and find out what suits you and your readers best.
Encourage feedback and engage with your readers. Respond to comments and questions, and take suggestions into consideration. You can encourage them to participate in the conversation, and you can ask for their suggestions on what they would like to read next like I do. These small things really matter and do make a difference.
Share your blog on social media platforms, like Twitter and Facebook. Also, participate in online communities related to your niche and share your blog posts with others. You can share your blog on websites like Quora, listly, and Medium as well.
There are several ways to monetize your blog, such as advertising, sponsored posts, and affiliate marketing. Choose a monetization strategy that aligns with your blog’s content and audience. For me, advertisement is more reliable than any other source, but I do use more than one source to monetize my blog.
By following these steps, you will be well on your way to starting a successful storyteller blog. Remember, it takes time to build an audience, but with persistence and effort, you can turn your passion for storytelling into a profitable side hustle. If you noticed, in this blog, just to make myself clear, I started my own story from the start, and that I what I want to say. If you like the blog, do let me know in the comments.
