You’ve heard it before—the only way to grow in life is to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. While that may be true, so many people never do it because they are too scared or feel like they don’t have the time. That doesn’t have to be you though! If you follow these simple steps, you can get out of your zone and into more fun and interesting activities with little to no effort. Just think of how proud you’ll be when you finally go for it!
It’s hard to get out of your comfort zone when you don’t know what it is, or how to get there. Before we can walk out of our zone, we first need to understand what it is. Basically, the comfort zone is a level of ability that’s easy enough for us to know how to do and be successful at it. In essence, the comfort zone is where we feel safe and content with ourselves and our surroundings. In simple words, for a lame person, his comfort zone will be his/her house.
It can be hard to think outside our comfort zone. We’re so comfortable in it, that we don’t want to change a thing. And when something new comes along and disrupts our happy world, it just throws us for a loop. We don’t know how to react and everything goes haywire. So what does it mean to have a comfort zone? It means we’re not looking for anything different. We like the way things are now, thank you very much. But that doesn’t mean it’ll always stay this way. The key is knowing how to get out of your zone when you need to do so.
Often, what stops us from challenging ourselves is fear of the unknown. We may be afraid that people will judge us for being too ambitious or not hard-working enough, and we don’t want to put our ideas out there for critique. But it’s important to remember that stepping outside your comfort zone can be a rewarding experience.
You will always get rewarded for your efforts. If you’re willing to take risks, you’ll have an opportunity to grow as a person and meet new people who are motivated by their own challenges. It’s also beneficial to surround yourself with people who inspire you so that you don’t feel like the only one taking risks in life.
Why do you need to get out of your comfort zone? Read this only if you want to succeed in your life if you have a purpose or a goal for your life. At that time, you will need to get out of your comfort zone to face the challenges that will come in the way of your goal. The quicker you understand this concept, the better it is.
Some people find that self-actualization is the key to the comfort zone, and in a way, this makes perfect sense. Often the greatest sense of comfort comes when we are fulfilled with our work and our lives. In other words, if you want to enjoy life more it can be beneficial to understand what drives you and pursue those things in life with your whole heart. Self-actualization could be different for an introvert and for an extrovert, depending upon a person’s nature. If I take my own example, I am an introverted person and like to live alone mostly.
To get out of your comfort zone, you must set personal goals and take action. While it may seem intimidating at first, getting out of your comfort zone will allow you to grow personally and professionally. After all, it was that leap forward that brought us innovations like airplanes, cell phones, and the internet. So what are you waiting for?
As I have discussed me being an introvert I would set my personal goals on my own. You don’t have to push too hard initially. For me, talking to a new person, or calling relatives is a difficult task. So what I do is, make a schedule. I will enter 5 relatives in my Google calendar in a week, that I have to call within that week (maybe for 5 minutes or less). This could be my first step in setting personal goals and taking action in the sense of getting out of my comfort zone.
There are many benefits to stepping outside our comfort zone. You’ll be more resilient, adaptable, and flexible in your job if you’re not set in your ways. Stepping outside of our comfort zone is all about taking a chance to explore new opportunities and enjoy life even more!
The best way to get out of your comfort zone is to take it slow. Start by making one change each day or week, until you build up the courage for that one big thing. That could mean trying something different for breakfast, going on a hike on an off-trail instead of sticking to the same path every time, or speaking up when you usually stay silent. For example, one step could be sharing this post with friends and family who need some motivation to step outside their comfort zones too.
Life Begins at the end of your comfort zone.
